Punjab CM orders timely completion of major health projects

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure the timely completion of ongoing and planned health projects across the province, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

She chaired a meeting in which officials gave a briefing on various healthcare projects, including the Nawaz Sharif Medical District, the Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Centre, and the Sargodha cardiology project.

The meeting approved the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Mianwali and decided to build the Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan.

A 268-bed Nawaz Sharif Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology will also be established in Gujranwala, while the chief minister directed officials to speed up work on the proposed medical college project in Layyah.

Under the Nawaz Sharif Medical District, several specialised institutes will be established, covering infectious diseases, plastic surgery, genetics, surgery, and orthopaedics.

The medical district will also include Children’s Hospital-II and an Institute of Ophthalmology, along with the Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital and a 100-bed general hospital.
