Anti-Taliban resistance intensifies as 17 killed in Afghanistan

Armed resistance against the Taliban has intensified in several parts of Afghanistan, with the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) claiming attacks on Taliban positions in Nuristan and Kunar provinces, 24NewsHD TV reported.

According to the AFF, heavy clashes erupted in Kamdesh district of Nuristan and Nari district of Kunar after Taliban forces launched attacks on positions held by the group.

In the fresh battle, at least 17 Taliban members were killed, and several others were wounded. 

The AFF also said its fighters attacked a Taliban military patrol vehicle on the Kabul-Bagram road on September 23.

The group claimed that one Taliban member was killed and two others were wounded.

The incident has also been recorded by the South Asia Terrorism Portal based on the AFF's claim.

The latest reports come amid increased activity by anti-Taliban armed groups in different provinces.

 The AFF has reported attacks and clashes in areas including Kunar and Badakhshan, while the Afghanistan United Front (AUF), led by former Afghan army commander General Sami Sadat, has claimed operations in several other provinces.

The AUF said it carried out 43 operations against the Taliban in 14 provinces during August, claiming that 74 Taliban members were killed and 35 wounded.

According to the latest claims cited by the resistance groups, 10 armed operations were reported within a week in Kabul, Sar-e Pol, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Kunar, Nuristan, Parwan and Paktia. The reported targets included Taliban checkpoints, vehicles and personnel.

The AFF has also claimed that fighting intensified in Kamdesh district of Nuristan and Nari district of Kunar after Taliban forces attempted to attack its positions.

The group said Taliban forces used ground troops and drones, while its fighters launched counterattacks. Claims that several Taliban outposts were captured could not be independently verified.

Overall, the recent incidents point to continued armed activity by several groups opposing Taliban rule.
